Our programmes deserve additional support

Some of our programmes are publicly funded, which covers up to 90% of the necessary budget, and need additional funding; the remainder must therefore be secured from other sources. Your contribution can fulfil this co‑financing requirement or can be the starting point of a project, enabling us to proceed with supporting journalism and media.

Below are some examples of programmes for which we are looking for co-funding.

Investigative Journalism

The Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU) fund is seen as a benchmark initiative that supports cross-border watchdog journalism in and around the European Union.

We run the Freelance Support Scheme, which offers grants for investigative projects carried out by teams primarily composed of freelance journalists.

The Journalism Science Alliance (JSA) offers grant funding, training, mentoring and networking opportunities to advance investigative journalism grounded in scientific evidence. The programme aims to foster collaboration between media organisations and research institutions across Europe to strengthen investigative journalism's credibility, depth, and impact.

Data Journalism

Since 2018, Data Journalism has been one of the pillars of the European Journalism Centre. We're actively looking for supporters to continue supporting and developing DataJournalism.com.

Our programmes are built and evaluated in partnership with leading institutional funders, including the European Commission, Google News Initiative and the Gates Foundation, ensuring measurable outcomes and transparent governance at every stage.

By partnering with EJC, funders help create the conditions in which independent journalism can thrive, misinformation can be challenged, and informed societies, and markets, can flourish throughout Europe and beyond.
