On 12 October 2023, Lisbon played host to the annual News Impact Summit organised by the European Journalism Centre (EJC) in partnership with the Google News Initiative (GNI).

The event brought together 225 participants. Their collective mission? To engage in dynamic and insightful discussions about the future of climate journalism. Guided by the insights of 15 prominent speakers, the event's thought-provoking sessions ignited a spark of inspiration and innovation among all the attendees.

Paul Fisher, representing the European Space Agency, shed light on how technology is at the forefront of the battle against climate change. Satellites are proving to be crucial tools for collecting important data to combat climate change. ESA has gathered valuable collections of high-quality images, videos, documentaries, and B-rolls. This visual data is available for use by journalists and media, opening up new opportunities for spreading awareness and understanding of climate change.
