A growing number of new kinds of independent news media have emerged in Europe, despite a pandemic, economic instability, disinformation and conflict. Highlighting these kinds of media outlets can help their leaders exchange knowledge, collaborate and gain greater visibility and recognition from organisations that can provide the vital support they need and deserve to continue their work.
The European Journalism Centre joined Sembra Media to support Project Oasis, a research project on the sustainability, innovation, and impact of independent digital native media in more than 40 countries in Europe. It consists of a digital media directory featuring 540 media profiles and a report featuring trends and insights into the sustainability, types of coverage, team formation, innovation, and press freedom across Europe.
