The annual News Impact Summit, organised by the European Journalism Centre (EJC) in partnership with the Google News Initiative (GNI), was hosted in Lisbon on October 12, 2023

A total of 225 individuals gathered, united by a common mission: to engage in dynamic dialogues regarding the future of climate journalism. Under the guidance of 15 speakers, the event's captivating sessions sparked motivation among all those in attendance.

As a part of Lighting Talks, we delved into the critical question of translating scientific data into human stories. The Sinking Cities Project, a global cross-border collaborative investigation, gave the answer to this question. The project, led by Ope Adetayo and Tina Lee from Unbias the News, was a remarkable initiative that engaged local journalists from major cities around the world. They uncovered the social, political, and economic implications of climate change.
