    Reactions to Lawrence Lessig in Rome

    The Internet as described by Lawrence Lessig, the Harvard Law School professor who founded Creative Commons, is a parallel universe to the World Wide Web as imagined by Paolo Romani, deputy communications minister for Silvio Berlusconi. While Romani has lent his name to a decree that would effectively equate private citizens with television stations - and all the legal obligations that implies - Lessig spoke in Rome of the need for a “regulatory humility” rather than “fighting a hopeless war” with a regulatory obsession that will eventually “corrode and corrupt democracy.”
