RTNDA announces regional winners of Edward R. Murrow awards


The Radio-Television News Directors Association announced the regional winners of the Edward R. Murrow Awards on 28 March in Washington, DC.
The Edward R. Murrow Award  is presented by the RTNDA in recognition of what the Association deems “outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.”

Awards include the following types: “Overall Excellence” for the best journalism; “Newscast”, honoring single whole newscasts; “Spot News Coverage”, for immediate coverage of breaking stories; “Continuing Coverage”, recognizing long-term coverage of developing major stories; “Investigative Reporting”, “Feature Reporting”, “Hard News”, “Sports Reporting”, “News Series” and “News Documentary”.

RTNDA received 3,150 regional entries. Judges gave 587 awards to 280 stations in 14 categories, including overall excellence, spot news, continuing coverage and investigative reporting, among others.

  • KMOX-AM, St. Louis (6)

Regional winners automatically become eligible for the national awards competition, which will be judged in early June. The national Edward R. Murrow Awards will be presented in October at the RTNDA Awards Dinner in New York.
