TH!NK ABOUT IT was a series of international blogging competitions, organised by the EJC and destined for professional and aspiring journalists, as well as for new media actors from a broad range of backgrounds. The competitions encouraged participants to report, debate, and exchange ideas about the most pressing issues that affect the world’s communities.
The first round in 2009 focalised on the European parliamentary elections, with subsequent editions addressing global topics such as climate change, development, and water. Since the series’ launch, each round took place alongside related international events, including the UN's Millennium Development Goals Review Summit and the meetings of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The blogging competition provided an online platform dedicated to the coverage of a timely topic, establishing in this way an international community of reporters and bloggers who made it the very focus of their debates. Introduced as an experimental project designated to explore the prospects of uniting new content creators together with media professionals, TH!NK ABOUT IT soon established a global network of over 700 reporters, and has partnered with international and national organizations such as the UN Millennium Campaign, the UNFCCC, the European Commission, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Earth Institute of Columbia University, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, National Geographic Online, and the Global Campaign for Climate Action (GCCA).
