We launched JournaJobs in these days of declining professional security, believing in the necessity of a centralised job listing dedicated to the journalistic job market. Being an independent, non-profit organisation that supports journalists and journalism, we chose to establish this platform as a pro-bono project that would provide a professional meeting point, bringing together journalists and media organisations and answering the employment needs of both.
The listing aggregates career opportunities from many different media corporations, broadcasters, NGOs, and commercial companies, including offers of internships, part time, full time, freelance, or temporary jobs, focusing mainly on the European market. But regardless of the position's origin, JournaJobs only showcases openings that call specifically for journalistic skills. Other positions that do not fall under this qualification, whether they are offered by media corporations or other organisations, are not included.
The online platform offers its services, free of charge, to journalists, writers, and editors, as well as to journalistic researchers and journalism students looking for work. Nonetheless, the EJC charges a small fee from those who wish to publish job openings. This mechanism is put into place to ensure the legitimacy of all postings and the quality of the listing.
